Found a Journal in My Attic, and I’m Starting to Wonder if I’m Losing My Mind

Happy

I never thought I'd find anything that would make me question everything I’ve known—especially not while cleaning out my attic. But that’s exactly what happened. I was going through some old boxes, trying to declutter, when I found a black leather journal. Nothing about it seemed out of the ordinary. It was just sitting there, like it had been waiting for me. At first, I didn’t think much of it—until I opened it. The handwriting inside wasn’t mine. It wasn’t even close to mine. And what’s worse? The entries were about me. My life, things I’ve experienced—but with details that felt… wrong. The first entry was about a trip I’d never taken. It described a road I swore I’d never seen, with people I didn’t recognize. The next one described a place I knew—except everything in it was subtly different. The layout of a room, the colors of the walls, even the sound of the wind outside. It was like a version of my life that wasn’t quite mine. But it gets weirder. As I kept reading, the journal started to describe moments I thought I’d buried deep inside. The kind of memories you don’t revisit because they’re too painful, too confusing. But in the journal, they weren’t my memories. They were twisted, distorted, like someone had taken my past and reshaped it into something else. And then, near the end, there was a final entry that stopped my heart: “You’re reading this. I knew you’d find me.” I don’t know what to make of it. How did this journal end up in my attic? Who wrote it? And why do I feel like I’ve been living a version of my life that isn’t even mine? Has anyone else experienced something like this? A memory that doesn’t quite match up? Or do I just need to face the fact that my mind is playing tricks on me? Either way, I need to figure this out. Please, help me make sense of it
