Vex Robotics for computer engineering?

Application Question

I am currently a freshman in the northeast going to a very competitive pre-engineering high school. My current primary stem ecs include being a captain of my own robotics team for a competition called Micromouse, I have just gotten onto one of my school's very selective Vex robotics teams, I am one of a few teachers in a club run in my town created by a junior that teaches engineering and building to middle schoolers(we host events at libraries). I am wondering if my current ecs are supportive of computer engineering at the moment. For reference, I am applying to a very competitive stem program in state and I need to list my area of interest(like major). For now I put mechanical engineering because that aligns more with vex, one of my biggest ecs. I'd rather put computer engineering though, because I can also write about my interest in coding paired with building hardware. I am also doing a research paper that is focused on comp sci/ML paired with biology. Is vex robotics a relevant ec for computer engineering? Should I apply to this program as computer engineering? Will I be able to apply to competitive colleges for computer engineering with this?
