Without this religion, i’d have a better relationship with my family

Background: Exmuslim have been living alone in western country for 6 years, from a relatively more chill muslim majority country (Indonesia)

Just got married to a western man. After a long fought battle, my family and i reached a middle ground. He had to convert and say the shahada and we had to have an Islamic wedding, but i set the limit there. Told my family i wont push anything on him after this.

My husband and i decided to also have a courthouse wedding (the way we want it). I put a pic in facebook. And my a lot of my extended family members ask my parents if its an Islamic marriage. My (very religious sister) had to upload a video of my husband saying the shahada to avoid more ppl commenting.

My (narcissistic) mother then got lectured from her extended family how i shd “friendly invite” him to pray w/ me now that hes a muslim. Fuck that.

Fucking hate how we have to do all things we didnt want to in the first place, and still have to deal w/ more crap. Cant we just fucking live?

I genuinely believe even if my family are religious, but w/ a different religion, its still gonna be better than this
