Excellent world building?

What author does it really well and which stories do you think have the best world building? I have been thinking about this and wanted to see what others thought :) I think good world building pulls you in deeply into the story and character's life, it goes beyond creating a fictional setting. But I am still debating whic authors do it best for me, hoping to find recs as well!
