Family Screwed Family Over Restaurant Ownership

Location: Utah. My husband and I started working for his Uncle's restaurant back in 2022. After being a manager for 2 years my husband was offered the opportunity to buy part of the business and we accepted. We were in the process of getting a loan and working on a handshake agreement but we were investing our own funds in the business and trying to keep it running. We were not informed before we took over that the business was in a significant amount of debt and the previous owner was relying on our buying him out to pay them off. Fast forward to now and we have been pushed out of our positions in the company by the previous owner's brother. He was able to get a couple investors and come up with the money to buy the whole business, including the part my husband and I were supposed to own. We have invested over $10,000 of our own money in this company and now we are left with nothing. I'm trying to figure out if we have any legal recourse to sue the brothers or the company for our lost investment.
