Do late direct debit payments affect credit history?

My bank has alerted me a few times that due to insufficient funds, certain direct debits cannot be made. These are never direct debits servicing debts, loans or repayments in any way. They are direct debits for bills mostly. I always fix the situation as soon as I receive the notification (ie - before 2pm, which is when the bank will attempt to make the payment again).

Does this affect my credit score/history in any way?
