Is online the right way to make femboy friends IRL?

I'm 17 and since i was 16 most of my irl femboy meet ups were because of the internet, Ive never started a friendship because of a actual femboy i met in person, is this a bad way to start a possible friend or relationship? Should i get off the internet and go outside looking for one often? I pretty much regret 40% of the meet ups i had :c
