Transport from Heraklion Airport to Rethymno

Hello,

We are traveling to Crete in 2 weeks, arriving in Heraklion Airport (in hindsight, i wish we had booked through Chania airport).

We are 4 adults and 2 children (both 3 year olds)

I’m looking for best options to get from Heraklion Airport to our Airbnb in Rethymno. Public transportation vs. taxi vs. booking private van

With kids involved I’m thinking maybe taxi or private transfer is the best and easiest option. We arrive at 5:00 pm. If this is the way to go, any reputable companies to book taxis with?
