Pain Difference ORIF vs Fusion

For anyone who has had both ORIF and fusion surgery- was there a significant difference in post-op pain between the two surgeries. For context I had ORIF two years ago at the time of my injury but since then my screw snapped in half causing instability in my foot so now I have to get fusion of my 1st and 2nd TMT joints in two weeks. I know fusion surgery is more invasive so I was wondering if I should expect the post-op pain to be worse this time around?
