I keep getting dumped even when I think things are going well — am I doing something wrong?

Hi everyone,

I'm writing this because I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I've had three short relationships in the past couple of years, and each time I went in with a lot of hope, thinking this could be the one. But each time, it ended before even reaching the 3-month mark. My longest relationship has been just two months, and it’s really starting to wear me down.

Here’s what happened:

  • The first girl told me she had DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), and that the personality I was dating isn't there anymore, and the new one was inconfortable about it. She said it wasn’t my fault and broke up with me.
  • The second one said we were emotionally incompatible — that she couldn’t "enter my bubble," whatever that means. She told me not to change, that I was fine as I was… and then left.
  • The third said I was too nice, that she didn’t deserve me, and again, told me it wasn’t my fault — then ended things.

Every time I get told it’s not my fault, but I still end up alone. And every time, I’m left with this massive emotional crash because I had real hope. I was already imagining a future together, and suddenly it’s gone, like the rug is pulled from under me. I suffer for weeks or months after. It’s exhausting.

I’ve really tried to self-reflect. I want to improve, but it’s hard to know what to change when the message I keep getting is, “You didn’t do anything wrong.” But clearly, something isn’t working.

Has anyone been through something similar? Should I change something about myself, or am I just picking the wrong people? I’m genuinely lost and starting to lose hope. I want to have a family and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to take care of children if I'm too old.

Thanks for reading.
