Is it really bad and/or shallow to like things just because you like it and have no other reason? How can I explain it to others that I just don't have any other reason except I like the things I like without it sounding like I'm hiding something from them?
For context, I want to befriend someone and form a connection/bond with them.
They asked me what I like and when I answered, they asked me why I like those things.
I told them that I just simply like the things I mentioned and there's no other reason for it.
They told me that they'd rather not befriend someone who can't or won't answer why they like something because to them, everything has a reason and if I didn't know the reason behind what I like, then I didn't know what my values are.
I feel sad about it because I genuinely want to connect with this person but there are things I like that just don't have any other reason other than I like it or I felt I like it.
They said that I seem shallow and unwilling to open up just because I don't have a reason and I'm now just stressed over it because I really can't find a reason for some of the things I like.
Is liking something for no reason abnormal?
