Workplace Bullying Story

I experienced a situation where I was bullied by a company (small-sized corporation that was supposedly well-known over the years) that I worked with as an independent contractor back in 2023. I wasn't even considered an employee with them & they still treated me like an employee in a toxic way, which was so weird on their part. For legal reasons, I cannot say the name of the company. They also bullied me over a stalking situation I experienced when I worked with them at the time, & they gaslit me about it. I was directed by the resources I reached out to outside of the company at the time after to report them for how they mistreated me. One of the resources I reached out to told me that what the company did to me was a form of workplace violence they committed against me. I ended up filing a charge against this company to hold them accountable, because I had to, no matter what happened after reporting them. I also had to report & block them (including everyone in charge of the company & who worked as partners or independent contractors too at the time who were involved in the workplace bullying) on social media, because they also bullied, harrassed, & threatened me on social media, which was so unprofessional & disingenuous on their part.

Their behavior was so toxic & horrible that more than 10 former employees at one point at once long after I stopped working with this company anymore (the company kicked me out for speaking up) quit working for them. Other independent contractors & partners stopped working with them too, because the company acted so unprofessional & toxic in their workplace, especially their HQ. The people who weren't working with this company anymore talked about it when reviewing this company anonymously online after, which I found out about on Glassdoor especially.

No matter what kind of workplace bullying happens, we need to keep speaking up about it. Workplace bullying shouldn't be tolerated at all. If a company (no matter who) continues it & sees it as part of the workforce, 1) they’re false, 2) that perspective they keep practicing is so unrealistic & exploitive, & 3) they’re destroying themselves as a company & have been doing so since Day 1 of their founding as a company. What they’re saying & doing is wrong, & please avoid them at all costs.

Also make sure to do your research first when working with any company, & be careful, even as an independent contractor or business partner especially, (not just as an employee). I did my research too on this company before working with them, & I found nothing bad about them then. When I left though was when I found bad things about them that other former workers & partners talked about online later on after my time with this company. In my case, I basically worked with a company that ended up scamming people who worked with them in some way.

No matter how they treated you, please remember that what happened to you wasn't your fault. So, anyone in & out of that workplace environment who has gaslit you into thinking otherwise is wrong. Also remember that your safety is important & should never be downplayed or gaslit by anyone else. It’s another obvious red flag if anyone does so. Keep speaking up people 🙏
