Calling station?
I'm relatively new to playing small stakes MTT's (daily's and private games) coming from 15+ years of SnG's online. I've run into my fair share of odd plays but this one was a bit puzzling.
Up until this point of the tournament, I haven't shown anything that would make someone think I'm getting out of line. Pretty much every pot I won was at showdown and a few I showed big hands because it's a friendly game. I'm probably the youngest player at this game, with a lot of 60+ year olds so I don't know if that played any factor.
About 30 hands in, I get KQ and get 3 streets of value on a Qxxxx board from AK, including a river 1/2 pot bet that he just calls. No draws on the board, just overcards calling me down all 3 streets.
Few orbits later, I attempt to squeeze from the SB with KQs for 5bb as everyone (including myself) are pretty short stacked. BB folds and the initial limper (guy from the hand above) tanks for about a minute and flats. Since I'm OOP on a terrible flop and I don't think he's folding anything in his range with that big of a pot, I elect to just check through and he turns over 55. I was just left a bit confused because he called down super light in the other hand, but wasn't interested in betting IP with 55 on a board that's terrible for me.
As I said, I'm relatively new to these live games so I'm just curious if it sounds like I have some sort of image because I'm young and was a bit aggressive (with good hands) to that point or if this is just a typical calling station
