Traded in for '25 Rally Pro yesterday
After months of deliberation, I made the call yesterday to trade in my '23 tiger 1200 gt pro for the '25 900 RP. I'm near the southern entrance to the new southeast BDR in the US and figured it was about time to start taking on more adventures. I had anakee adventures on my 1200, and any time I'd take it on muddy or slick clay roads it always seemed like it was ready to wash out at any moment (though that's largely due to my lack of offroad skills, much less the tires and weight of the bike).
Considering I make small work trips (300-500 miles) pretty often on the highway, I was mostly only concerned with the touring comfort on the smaller 900, and how much I'd be giving up. The dealer let me take a ~120 mile test ride on both a '22 and a '25 rally pro, and it was abundantly clear that the 900 (and especially the updated model) is truly an all-rounder. There was far little sacrifice to touring comfort than I expected. I'm 6'3" and about 240lb, and found that the windscreen on the 900 at highway speeds in the low position allows "clean" and non-turbulent air to hit my helmet-- a sweet spot that I was never able to find on the 1200.
Looking at pictures and experiences on this sub was part of the reason I considered the tiger over the desertX or F900GS. If anyone now or in the future is in a similar situation and considering the trade down, I hope this reference can give you some insight!
