Things to consider - Cutting off micro usb to replace with USB-C male connector
Hi all,
So I have a 4g security camera and it's been causing non stop frustration!
Not only does the packed in external solar panel use micro usb which is a nightmare in and of itself, the sleeve to protect the adapter in outdoor weather makes it 10x worse to plug in. The adaptor did get mangled, so we recently got a replacement and connected it. But it's still difficult to tell if it's charging and I don't think it is.
As the camera and all are out of warranty my next move is to cut off the micro usb end and solder on a usbc replacement to the cable from the panel and see how it goes. Does anyone have any information on doing this, I've been searching online for data on the panel and camera power input to make sure I don't overlook anything. But all I can see is the panel is 2.6w so a usbc end rated for 5v 3a should do the job. But I'm worried if there's some data between panel and camera also...
Any advice/commentary would be appreciated!
