Costco promos and shop cards in-store vs phone number?

Being mother's day want to upgrade the wife to Motorola edge deal. Store is 30 mins away and being a weekend who knows how busy.

If I call do I still get the shop card or is it "more risk" etc? I have the imei's of the trade ins and it's any phone/any condition so that doesn't bother me but the waived $35 and $100 shop card is a win.
