Beta invites coming late?

I have been following the game for many months and been signed up for the betas since forever. I finally got an invite today to take part in this latest beta weekend, with one weird caveat: I got the invite today (Sunday) about mid-afternoon in my time zone.

I thought this was strange to say the least; first of all, I would expect a beta invitation for such a limited time slot (this weekend) to have come in advance, so I could, say, plan to actually have the time to play the game and test it out.

I would have loved to test it out even for the few hours that would have been available to me after receiving the email, but with a kid and a job out of town away from my main gaming computer, that’s just not possible. I get that many people can swivel on a dime to play when they get the invite, but some of us really need to know in advance at least a couple of days to organize our lives.

And most importantly though, I thought the invite when the weekend was practically over was strange.

Did that happen to anyone else out there?
