Italian Police Officers, UK Police Officer would like your perspective?

Hello, Police Officer from the North of the UK here.

I’m in Sicily on vacation and have naturally observed the various different police organisations in Italy.

I’m curious to hear from Italian police officers, wherever they work and whatever they do as to what they do day to day?

In the UK we spend a lot of our time dealing with domestic incidents, as well as mental health and generally stuff that isn’t actually crime related (a lot of social care/missing children ect). It has created a lot of poor morale among UK police officers as we would rather be out catching drug dealers, burglars, thieves and deal with what we would call ‘proper crime’.

Curious as to whether the trend towards police as a social service has also made its way to Italy and what your thoughts are.

Equally, if there are any family of police or non police who would like to share their view that would be greatly appreciated.
