Hi, I wasn't sure where else to post this but I am very conflicted about a car I have seen!

I've been learning since January, however I would like to buy a car soon and I will need to pass my test regardless of whether it takes me 182 attempts. 've been looking at automatic cars, insurance group 10U, less than 50,000 miles, not electric, and under £8k. I could afford more than £8k, but for my first car I would really rather not and I have other things I'd rather spend the money on. I start a new job in September which is good money, but for now I am a broke ass bitch using her credit card and in her overdraft. I was going to get a personal loan from my bank to pay for the car.

Anyway - to the actual point. This morning I was sent a picture from a friend of a car for sale locally. It's a Citreon DS3, 2015, 57k miles, 3 previous owners, and just under £3k. It apparently needs some minor work doing which looking at the MOT history is its front arm suspension pin, oil leak, front brake disc is worn, and something to do with the front track rod end ball joint (???). I don't mind paying a little extra for this stuff, considering my initial budget.

I asked my mum and dad for advice, despite being a grown woman, my dad said it seems okay as long as the fixes aren't too expensive and I should look at it first, but my mum said no because it needs work doing and I should wait for a similar car for the same price. Also asked my boyfriend, and one of my friends and they also mentioned the work that needed doing and how old the car is. Is it really that bad? They have all been driving for a long time, have enough money to afford new or new-ish cars, and drive manual. They're pushing me into buying a 2019-2025 car but I can't really afford one right now.

I feel like I'm being reasonable in wanting this car and paying for the fixes but they're making me doubt myself and I feel like they know more than me.

First car advice :)
