Visiting doctors in other EU countries with Dutch health insurance card?
Hi, I might move to NL soon and I'm specially worried about healthcare, as I have some crazy chronic conditions that are better known and treated in other EU countries, and the huisarts model in NL is a pain when you regularly need to see a lot of different specialists.
According to EU law, it's possible to visit doctors in other countries even for a planned appointment (i.e. no emergency). I've seen specialists in Belgium and France with my German health insurance card and it worked super smoothly with the reimbursements. https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/health/planned-healthcare/index_en.htm
Therefore my question: has anyone planned doctor visits (i.e. excluding emergencies) in other EU countries while having a Dutch health insurance card? Is it easy, complicated, or does it highly depend on your Dutch health care provider? Care to share your experience with that? Thanks a lot!
