front wheel replacement on 79 xr250

I just recently got a 1979 xr250 from a family member and i have noticed that the front tire is dry rotted and is worn and I have looked for replacements and have found nothing and I was curious if I should just look for a used front wheel set from a newer bike and switch to a disk brake? any help is appreciated
