Received my Verbatim 43888 today - should I return it?

Two months ago I ordered a Verbatim 43888 (for 108EUR) together with two other components. I ordered this drive at the time because everyone said it was a Pioneer drive with a flashable FW.

The order was delayed and I wasn't sure which component was the reason for the delay. Today I received the order and I believe the 43888 was the reason for the delay. It looks like I received a drive from a new batch with a LG BU40N and FW 1.05. It has already been confirmed here in the sub that this drive no longer has any Pioneer hardware in it.

I am now wondering if I should return it and buy an original Pioneer (which one?) because of this announcement? If your recommendation is to return it, why are Pioneers so much better than this LG drive?
