Keys don’t work in glovebox / centre console

Hi All,

I’ve picked up a UK spec H reg (1990) NA, my key (grey top) only seems to work in the doors and ignition but not the glovebox, boot or centre console. After doing some research I think I have the valet key and not the master.

This car was a “barn find” so I have no paperwork or other information about it. I just got the logbook one key and the car itself. I have removed the door cards and can’t see a number stamped onto the barrels.

I presume the valet and master key are only a slightly different cut, is there any way to decode the master key or obtain the original cut from anywhere else on the car?

I have contacted my local Mazda dealer but have had no luck with them so far.
