James Gunn & his love of body snatching stories

Nearly every single James Gunn related project revolves around body snatching or body horror in some way. If it’s not a main focus it’s a comedic or cool scene. It’s cool how he implements this into so many of his projects and makes it feel fresh and new. It took me a while to realize he’s always doing some body snatching plot. The only one not overtly about body snatching are Super, Brightburn and Guardians of the Galaxy.

His very first movie, Slither is literally just invasion of the body snatchers & the blob, but with grotesque body horror.

Guardians of the Galaxy has a funny gag where Rocket LITERALLY body snatches when he steals a guys leg.

Guardians Vol 2-Star Lord’s father is literally a living planet who creates a perfect human avatar body to live as and mate across the galaxy. Not to mention Groot is now reborn as a baby.

Guardians Vol 3-Body horror plot and all the poor animals :( there’s a rabbit who’s turned into a mechanical spider like the weird baby thing from Toy Story. High Evolutionary also gets his face torn off.

Superman-Ultraman is apparently a Superman clone.

The Suicide Squad-Starro is literally invasion of the body snatchers. Also Polka Dot seeing everyone as his mom.

Peacemaker-intergalactic Butterfly invasion is once again literally invasion of the body snatchers. They infest humans brains and take over their bodies.

Peacemaker Season 2-Double peacemakers.

Scooby Doo movies-the monsters can pose as humans. Also the scene where the whole team switches bodies when the souls are set loose, and then when Shaggy turns into a woman 😳
