How often do you guys buy gems from shop?

I've been playing on an ironman profile for a week, and since im on new MC account I got the free booster cookie but now that I'm off it I'm absolutely desperate for another one. I'm considering just buying $10 of gems to get the cookies as I can't sell anything for coins rn, but I kinda feel scummy for doing it, anyone else buy gems?
