Another JR question..

Planning a trip to Japan in Sept and was wondering about the Kansai Hiroshima Area Pass

Home base is Osaka (flying in from Busan) and the plan for now is

Day 1-3: Osaka 3-4: day trips to Kyoto 5: day trip to Hiroshima 6: day trip to Nara 7 onwards: tokyo

So using japan-guide.com, it says to get the Kansai Hiroshima pass (which we'll start after Osaka), but I read that you can't use it to go from Osaka/Kyoto even though on japan-guide it says you can? What is the truth?

If I can't use it between Osaka/Kyoto, it's still worth it if we go to Hiroshima since it's 10000 yen each way but if we cut Hiroshima, do we just use non JR lines for all these places? Then JR from Osaka to tokyo. My math says yes but, just want to reconfirm with you guys.
