Season 2 has great potential for a future series about obtaining the Death Star 2 plans

Spoilers for the end of season 2 obviously.

!It seems like they clearly set up Kleya for some future potential. She’s too good and plugged in to the Rebellion for her story to end here. And we know after Scariff she’s one of the few to survive this series. They put some time into establishing her backstory at the end of this season so we know they have her in mind for something.

The biggest untapped canon story that could feature the current characters at their current ages would be the discovery of the second Death Star and obtaining the plans from the Bothans. It would be cool to see Mothma and Kleya navigate the Bothan Spynet and try to negotiate the retrieval of the plans, this time with no insider like Galen to help them out.

Kleya’s face just got blasted to the whole galaxy, and Mothma is notorious now as well. How do they deal with that while keeping a low profile and keeping the Rebellion alive while the “heroes” are off doing their thing? There’s a lot of material there for another gritty Tony Gilroy spy saga!<
