Tips and guidance on soaking blends in rum?

NSFW

I recent tried Black Frigate and absolutely love it. I've been wanting to try more rum blends and have ordered a few, but most say or are reviewed as just a whiff of rum. Has anyone tried soaking preexisting blends in rum? I keep looking at captain Earle blends thinking that some of them might be really good with some added rum. Would that process really be as simple as soaking the cake in good rum (aged, unspiced rum, I assume?) for a few days and letting it dry? How do you do your own custom blends with rum? I do have a means of pressing tobacco myself as well as blending components (that I haven't dabbled much with yet).

Alternatively, does anyone know any blends that are more than a whiff of rum? I have Salty Dogs and McB Navy Flake in the mail now. Black Frigate seems to have a good amount for me, but I'd like to try more.
