I peed in the sink for some months out of sheer pettiness.

CW: Pee?

Okay, I'm not proud of this at all, but in hindsight it's kind of weird and funny how my mind worked under the stresses of cabin fever. That, and it's gross-funny.

I live in a culture where it's quite common to stay with your parents until you're married. So in my home is my parents, my two elder brothers, and I. We're fortunate enough for all the kids to have a room each, although the layout of our small home means I share a bathroom with my eldest brother (let's call him Blake), whilst my second brother (let's call him David) has a smaller bathroom all to himself.

Now things were mostly fine. Blake tried to be mindful of the fact that he's sharing a bathroom with his sister, but he's probably the least responsible eldest sibling I've ever known: Most of the bathroom cleaning is left to me, or my mom when the germaphobe in her snaps at the sight of the tiniest sight of dirt.

Come COVID and the massive wave of lockdowns. Here the problems really began.

A number of months before COVID, Blake started dating his now-wife (let's call her Pam). Now, on an individual level I have no issue with her. It was clear from the start that we were very, very different people. I have no issue with that. But Blake and Pam became a combination that rubbed me the wrong way every way: starting with the fact that we only found out that Blake and Pam were dating because he's been sneaking her into the house whenever there's no one else around without anyone's knowledge. We're not talking two high schoolers afraid of getting caught, by the way, we're talking TWO GROWN ADULTS who didn't bother to inform anyone else that they were dating, much less the fact that they were going to be having regular stayovers. Apparently my parents and David came back from a trip they were on and found them being very comfortable at home together. (I was on my own grad trip with my friends and missed the show entirely.) I'm not sure what to call it, a lack of respect for others? By the time of the lockdowns, I was thoroughly pissed with the two of them and tried to avoid them at every turn.

Lockdown began. In their usual pattern of behavior, Blake quietly and swiftly moved Pam in unofficially without telling a single soul. David and I exchanged looks at the dinner table, Mom and Dad looked unconcerned, and that was it.

I was fine for a month or so. It's easy to avoid people when you're able to leave the house, but when you can't? You lock yourself away and kind of go crazy. I think I pretty much lost my shit after a number of weeks. Everything they did pissed me off - they'd walk down the corridor past my room and I'd slam the door to avoid seeing them (not proud of it).

I'm of the opinion that Pam intensifies every awful trait Blake has. His bathroom cleaning duties whittled down to zero, and I became the sole janitor of the shared bathroom. In a fit of pettiness at one point, I cleaned everything and left a note at the door saying that it would be the LAST time that I was cleaning the damn thing. The note was gone within the day, and I wasn't sure who ripped it out--although I highly suspect my mom, because she gave me a warning tap to not start shit in the household soon after that. (Funnily enough, about two weeks after that she herself put up a sign in our shared bathroom with a cleaning roster split 50-50 between me and Blake. This time I tore it down because I didn't feel it was fair that I had to take a 50% split of duties when there were three people using the fucking bathroom.)

Anyway, I soon became reluctant to share with Blake and Pam. I begged David to share with him instead, and he (an angel) agreed on the condition that it's not all the time. It made sense for me, too, because David's room and bathroom is a bit of a small trek upstairs and I wasn't enthused about running up all the time just to use the bathroom, anyway. So I started taking my showers and doing my business at David's.

But from time to time, things are a little more urgent, or David happens to be using his bathroom. And I've grown so irked and (this is where my crazy manifested) physically disgusted and repulsed by wanting to have any form of physical contact, direct or indirect with them. Basically somehow it got in my head that I just didn't want to share a toilet with Blake or Pam. Now, our sink is mounted onto a counter. And I'm light enough to hop up there. So in some crazy, convoluted, spite-filled cabin fever thought process, I decided to hop up on the counter, squat there, run the tap and piss into the sink. Now I'm not proud of what I've done now, but lockdown crazy kept that whole schtick going for a number of months. The worst part? I stuck to my warning to never clean that bathroom again. And piss being piss, even with running water, some substances start to gather in whatever crevices it reached. So yeah, it became disgusting after a while (not like they noticed or cared, it seems). And I didn't stop until after the lockdowns ended.

I'm glad to say that Blake and Pam have since found their own home and got married (good grief and I hope they do clean their damn bathrooms). I have become the sole custodian of the cursed bathroom, and have since walked back on my words and cleaned and purified it from top to bottom. My toiletries now have returned to their hometown, and David is happy to have his bathroom back to himself. This angel is himself now engaged and about to leave home soon and I'll miss him. He still doesn't know what I did, and neither do my parents, and I'm not keen on taking this to the grave, either, so here we are.
