I’m so confused playing DEATH STRANDING please help

okay so I got the game some months ago and played for a few hours, got too confused and stopped for several months. now i'm picking the game back up and i'm more confused than ever because I don't remember the first part well enough PLUS the whole world and controls just confuse me a lot. I really want to get into the game tho and feel like I just need to put in some more hours to make sense of it all, so if anyone could maybe help explain/recap the story/world a bit to me? i'm currently at order 12, I just reconnected the wind farm to the city and am really lacking some basic information about how this world works. i've played many open world games before, this one just seems to be a lot of information at once. will it make more sense later? thank you so much, I really want to enjoy this game bc I love the visuals and keep hearing great things about it!!
