Does losing mama early change personality?

I have a deposit down on a puppy. She just turned 4 weeks today. I found out that mama is in the hospital with pyometra. I assume if she survives, she will be done nursing and probably away from the puppies for some time while she heals. I am concerned about how this will affect my puppy. I've read about anxiety issues from being separated too early. Does anyone have input? I'm thinking about moving on and finding another breeder.
