Teachers - what are you expectations with adult students?

Adult student here (late 20s) with 2.5 years of taking lessons and two different teachers throughout this time. I don’t have kids, pets, or really any large responsibilities outside of work - so I practice at least an hour a day.

Both my teachers have been very surprised/happy with my progress so far which I think is interesting because I am literally just a guy that practices their prescribed material often. This has got me wondering the typical adult student experience is like for teachers.

To the teachers on this sub - what is your typical experience teaching adult students? What expectations do you have for them? How long is the typical retention of an adult student? And do you see patterns in their attitude and practice habits?

Genuinely just curious because I only have my own experience.
