[Kicker] Wirtz: Bayern Fears Liverpool – Decision Coming Soon

For a long time, Bayern Munich saw only Real Madrid as a serious competitor for signing Florian Wirtz. But now it looks like Liverpool might get involved.

Wirtz, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, is a key player Bayern wants. He is expected to decide in the next few days whether he will transfer and where he will go. People at Bayern believe he will choose between Liverpool and Bayern Munich, and this decision will be made within the next 10 days.

Last week, there was a meeting between Liverpool and Wirtz’s family. Many thought they were meeting with Manchester City, but that was a misunderstanding. Right now, Bayern is not worried about any interest from Spanish clubs, according to sources close to the club.

Bayern’s management knows exactly what Wirtz’s family is planning. Reports say that Liverpool impressed the family and want to make Wirtz the center of a new team at Anfield. Just like Bayern, Liverpool is ready to spend a lot for this transfer.

Kompany Explained His Plan to Wirtz

This fact gives Bayern hope. A transfer costing over 100 million euros is very unusual for Liverpool. Still, the Premier League and Anfield are very attractive. Will that also attract Wirtz?

Bayern’s new coach, Vincent Kompany, has had a long talk with Wirtz about how he would fit into the team. Did he manage to convince him? A “no” from Wirtz would be a big blow to Bayern. They don’t have a backup plan yet and hope he says yes. If Wirtz says no, they might try to quickly extend Leroy Sané’s contract instead.

Just like with Wirtz, Bayern also hopes to get Jonathan Tah, who is currently on vacation. He would join for free and could sign a 4-year contract or 3 years with an option for 1 more. Barcelona is also still trying to sign him. If he chooses Bayern, he would be part of the team for the Club World Cup starting on June 15.
