Why does it feel like Arabic is being overlooked on Duolingo?
I love seeing this in my email inbox :)
I’ve been studying Arabic with intention, not just as a language, but as a path toward understanding the Qur’an and connecting more deeply with my faith. While I’m thankful for the starting point Duolingo provides, it’s hard not to notice how much more is available for other languages. I see learners talking about chatbot conversations, grammar drills, roleplay features, expanded units, and higher level caps.
But with Arabic, there is very little of that. No real conversations to practice, no higher-level lessons to build fluency, and the course feels like it barely grows over time. It leaves me wondering if Arabic learners are being left in the shadows.
Is anything new coming? Or is Arabic simply not receiving the same care and attention?
If anyone else is learning Arabic for the sake of Allah, or has insight into how Duolingo builds its courses, I would truly love to hear your thoughts. May Allah increase us all in knowledge and sincerity 🤍📿
