Boil from Hair break

if a boil from hair break has pus discharge, would it always need a laser procedure to cure? My Younger brother has developed one. He has been prescribed Dalacin C300 (TDS) with Vizylac (BD) with a suggestion to seek a surgeon's consult if it doesn't get better in 5-7 days. Any ointment alternative treatment that can help?🙏🙏
