The Ballad of Revolut's Magnificent Incompetence
A Sardonic Ode to Corporate Brilliance
Oh, gather 'round, ye punters all, and hear this tale of woe,
Of how a fin-tech giant fell to depths we'll never know.
For fifty dollars' worth of coin—a sum quite small indeed—
They've frozen thousands, stopped the lot, through corporate greed.
"We're terribly modern," Revolut declared, "We'll revolutionise your day!"
But when you try to move your cash, they'll snatch it all away.
They'll gladly take your money in (the interest rates are sweet),
But dare to send it elsewhere? Well, that's rather indiscreet.
Our hero had a Metal card—the premium elite—
Paid monthly for the privilege of this banking feat.
But loyalty means bugger all when algorithms decide
That fifty quid in Bitcoin means you're dodgy, so you're tried.
The flat was missed, the agents cross, the credit card unpaid,
Direct debits bouncing left and right—what splendid mess they've made!
But fear not, dear Revolut cries, "We've protocols to follow!"
(Translation: "Sod your rent, your bills, your life—our rules you'll bloody swallow.")
They've split their apps to hide their fees, like magicians with their tricks,
But kept them linked just tight enough to land you in this fix.
"It's only crypto that we've frozen!" (What a load of tosh!)
When savings, stocks, and current accounts are blocked—where's all your dosh?
The NCA might get involved (they've seven days to think),
Whilst you're left high and dry without a penny or a drink.
"Submit your evidence," they say, "though screenshots can be faked,
So what's the bleeding point?" you ask—their logic's rather baked.
The privacy coin's the villain here—Monero's far too sly,
They can't track where your money went, which makes the bean-counters cry.
"We'd rather sell your data," seems the subtext of their game,
"Than let you have your privacy—now isn't that a shame?"
And when you ring for human help, what greets you on the line?
A chatbot or a human—the distinction's rather fine.
They've failed the Turing test, it seems, with answers rather weak,
But claim they're flesh and blood, you know—though evidence looks bleak.
So here's to dear Revolut, that paragon of trust,
Who'll freeze your life for pocket change and leave you in the dust.
They've made their millions from your fees, your interest, and your time,
But cross them with a crypto move? Well, that's a bloody crime.
In memoriam: Customer service, common sense, and the quaint notion that one's own money should remain accessible for trivial pursuits such as paying rent.
Moral of the tale: Never trust a bank that thinks fifty dollars makes you Al Capone, but has no qualms whatsoever about keeping your thousands hostage whilst they "investigate" whether you're running the Silk Road from your bedsit.
