No audio in headset on Xbox Series S, tried everything

When I have my headset plugged into my Xbox controller, I have no audio. The slider to mix between chat audio and game audio is greyed out and I've tried what feels like everything with no solution. I updated my controller, unpaired and repaired my controller, restarted and hard reset my Xbox with nothing working and messed with my settings for over an hour to no avail. I am completely lost. My headset works fine on my computer so I'm not sure what the issue is. From what I've seen this is a common issue and different solutions work for some people, but I've had no luck.
