NYC sublet - owner left all their personal items

Me and a friend recently moved into a 2b2b sublet in Long Island City, NY. When receiving a video tour of the apartment, we agreed to the apartment as shown in the video (with all their personal belongings); however, since it was quite messy we asked them if they would tidy up a bit and they agreed verbally and over text. When getting to the apartment, we discovered that it was still just as messy as in the video. The sublessors have left their personal belongings all over the place, have taped up several cabinets and closets that are full of their clothes and items, and are storing friends' items in several large moving boxes in the living room. They are also using every single kitchen cabinet, have left an Xbox in the living room, etc.

We have already asked them if it would be possible to get a rent reduction and move all the personal belongings into the guest bedroom for the duration of the sublet after which we would move it back; they agreed to let us move the items into the guest bedroom but refused the rent reduction. Additionally, our lease agreement has a line that states "The Subtenants may not move or damage the Sublessors’ personal belongings" so I'm wondering if it's there's any other alternative options available to us or if we will just have to put up with it.
