hinge date regret

I just got Hinge for the first time last month. My first time ever getting a dating app and the first time I'm actively trying to look for a relationship. Haven't had any luck in uni or friend circles and I know some people who have found their partner on dating apps, my age (20 F) so I thought why not. I was going to wait to uni break but decided to make a profile on a random night.

I matched with this really cute guy on the 2nd day on being the app. We spoke for about a week back and forth and I was really excited to meet him. He asked about my plans and when I was free on the 2nd day of talking but I got nervous and said that I was busy that week but realized I should have said yes early on. He asked about my work, what I do and there was some banter here and there.

About a week later I asked if he was free and we decided on sunday to meet on wednesday night. He didn’t message since and I got nervous if Wednesday was going to happen. I messaged on the day of at 10 am ‘hey, since I haven’t heard from you, I’m assuming tonight’s off.’ He replied at 12pm ‘why assume that?’ ‘do you want to go get ice cream?’ and then 10 minutes later unmatched.

Since then I haven’t met anyone on the app that asked questions or found as attractive. They usually just ask for my insta right away or have no depth or don’t text back often like the first guy did. I realized that the first guy was actually a strong choice after a month since. I have been on two dates since but nothing good came of it.

I can’t help but think about ‘what if?’ The first date could have been bad and maybe I would have said no after or maybe he would have. Was I wrong to send that message? Should I have framed it more better? He is on social and his account was pretty easy to find when we first started talking since he plays for team that was on his first photo, so I did come across his social media account but obviously don’t think it’s okay to do something.
