The promise that was never fulfilled
It was 5 years ago that we made that promise, R. Unfortunately, our paths never made it to its completion.
I am happy that, at least somehow, you are living in that promise we once shared. I am happy you really found your way into med school and is on the way soon to becoming that great doctor you always aspired to be. You were always the one who had the lifeblood for it.
I am on a completely different path now, R. I, too, never really expected this for me. I am sorry I never fulfilled our sumpaan. We once promised to help those in need. Mine manifested in some other form. At least in that, I still find comfort.
When I saw you recently in the streets of Sampaloc - this was our first after so many years of no contact - I got so fumbled that on my ride home, I was hyperventilating and was crying hard. The sight of you after so long has left me in pieces. I thought I was done with all of the things associated with us before. I was wrong. You still have that effect on me, I guess.
You still cross my mind sometimes. I remember our good times - maybe even my best times - together. They say that on the brink of death, all your memories will flash within your eyes - if my time comes, I’ll choose to linger a little longer on those memories, R. Our memories.
People really do come and go. Ours was a brief, little season but a very memorable one. I just hope that you are no longer angry at me. I will be forever sorry for what has transpired. I wish our paths may still cross, if life permits it, no longer feeling the hurt that we caused each other.
I am happy for you. I am proud of you. Always. Please mag-iingat ka palagi, my sunshine.
