Stockbridge or New Town for first time visitor?

Visiting with my wife for 4 nights in early September. Debating between The Raeburn in Stockbridge or Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel in New Town. Google/AI tells me Stockbridge is more quaint and charming but I'm afraid it might be too far from everything. We're young and like to walk though. What do you guys think?
