Parents that want praise for parental duties
"I cook you dinner and I keep a roof over your head!!!"
"I drive you everywhere and buy you clothes.!!!"
Well, yeah, I sure hope so. If I was 40 and living here rent free, maybe I could see the point, but what business did you have throwing that in my face when I was 14 and otherwise helpless? You chose to bring me into this Earth knowing what needs to be done to care for a child, I didn't ask for this.
How is providing basic human needs to the human you created, and by law must care for, any form of gotcha moment? You want me to praise you, regardless of anything else, because you did what a parent should? That's not above & beyond parenting, that is legal, moral, and ethical obligation.
And yes, some parents are deadbeat and neglectful and it's important to be grateful you had good ones, but by that logic, where was my praise for being a good kid? I didn't do drugs, I went to school, I graduated, I didn't have unprotected sex, I stayed out of juvy, I made my parents' life great compared to other kids my age so...where's the praise for that? I did what I was supposed to as their child. Praise and respect forever please!!!
