During the Battle For Super Earth, bug divers directly contributed to a 5% reduction to the invading Illuminate fleet by defending the planet Fort Union.

“During the Battle For Super Earth,, a former satellite technician on the planet (Fort Union) would develop malware capable of disabling Illuminate technology, with long-range satellites being outfitted to transmit the code. However, the planet would be under threat of the Terminids, and as such Helldivers were ordered to hold onto the planet.

The order was a success, with the code being transmitted and destroying multiple spacecraft. The technician would be promoted to Command of the 405th Cyberwarfare Detachment due to their efforts.”

“SUCCESS. MALWARE TRANSMITTED - Satellites on Fort Union have successfully transmitted civilian-created malware to the Illuminate Fleet, resulting in the destruction of multiple large spacecraft. The Illuminate Fleet has suffered 5% damage as a result. The unnamed technician who developed the code has been given a field promotion to Command of the 405th Cyberwarfare Detachment.”

During the Battle For Super Earth, I completed 8 operations (24 missions) on Super Earth, and 2 operations (6 missions) on Fort Union. Sure, maybe a 5% reduction to the invading Illuminate fleet is not a lot, but the victory of Fort Union also bought precious time against the Terminid Horde.

I have no regrets, and I think the current stigma towards being a “bug diver” is nothing short of treachery. In real life though, I think it’s nothing short of toxic.
