Would it be wrong of me?

Hi, I (M19), and I recently started a relationship with my girlfriend (23F). Things have been going really well, and I absolutely love her to bits. I’ve learned so much about her, and everything feels great so far.

However, recently I’ve been feeling conflicted about some things we’ve discussed. For example, she shared with me that her "first time" was something that happened to her in the past. While it’s a little saddening, I don’t mind it, because it’s not really my business—I wasn’t there to begin with, so it doesn’t affect me directly.

What really took me by surprise, though, was when she told me about something much more serious. She said she had been what has been implied as rape by someone in her past. Her exact words were: “That guy wanted something from me. And he got it by force. Every week. For 4 years.” I want to be clear that I know it’s not her fault, and I understand she’s been through a lot. She’s lucky to have had a best friend of 13 years beside her to support her through all of this.

But despite knowing all this logically, it’s still really hard to process. It hit me pretty hard. I’m not considering leaving her—I don’t want to leave her—but I’m struggling with how to handle my own feelings about it. I know resenting her or leaving her over something she couldn’t control would be completely wrong. Still, I’m conflicted about what to do moving forward.

A little context: This is my first serious relationship, and I’m still figuring things out. If I sound unsure or ignorant, it’s because I’m still learning about how to be a supportive partner in a situation like this. I genuinely want to be there for her, but I’m also unsure how to manage my own feelings.

I’m open to any advice, especially if it includes reasons or perspectives on why I should or shouldn’t stay. I want to do the right thing and support her in the best way possible, but I don’t want to ignore my own emotions either.

Thanks for taking the time to read this—I really appreciate any advice or insight.
