Canadian roadtrip from Manitoba - BC or ON?

Thinking of doing a roadtrip in summer/early fall with a group of 4ish girls from manitoba. Should we go east to Ontario, or out west to BC? We're semi outdoorsy people. Which way has better stops and sights? Any advice or opinions from anyone who taken similar trips would be appreciated!
