Attack on my chickens

So just today, my chickens were attacked by a fox.. or something like it. And unfortunately, one has been killed, and one has likely ran off, currently unfound. We believe my rooster fended the predator off, and kept the others safe thank god. This has happened before when we had less chickens.. but this is devastating. The one that was killed was the companion to one of them that was sti alive, and she is distraught, and I feel awful, and I can't imagine what she's feeling. I haven't talked to god yet, I need to, but this b brings up the whestion, do animals go to heaven? Will I see them up there? I'm having hard time thinking about that fox, and what I'm gonna do now besides predator proofing our cooop. I love my chickens so so much, and I have seen and held all of them when they were at least an hour to a day old, I love and know them personally and well, and this has completely thrown me off. Our chicken that has been attacked left likely fertile eggs behind, so we are hatching them in memory of her.. it's just so devastating.. I don't know how to help them or my self for that master. Please, I need some advice here..
