Im sure a lot of books fit this description. What I recall is it’s a middle aged man reflecting on the lights of new york and the quiet nights of his childhood with bright stars and catching fireflies in the summer. I believe he mentions stealing his mother’s sewing scissors to poke holes in the jar lid for the fireflies.
