Question about new figures

This might sound like a stupid question, but when ever you get a new CT toys figure or bootleg figure, do you ever clean it when you get it out of the box? Like with soapy water or disinfectant spray or whatever cleaning stuff doesn't damage the plastic and paint too much. I'm sometimes a little paranoid and a bit of a germaphobe. I got a CT toys blue stripe wolverine and used disinfectant spray and water on the figure and accessories it didnt damage anything btw . But was that too much?
