Are the books Canon?

What I mean by that is Austin has also published 2 books while working on the cinematic universe

1. Spider women
2. Brain Boy

So are they part of the main continuity or do they serve the purpose of an origin story, which the movies won't show?

I haven't read either of the books 🙂
