Thoughts on applying with politically charged ECs (Gaza)

General

I am deeply involved in progressive/leftist politics, and my biggest leadership role on my campus is being founder/president of our YDSA chapter. Obviously, socialists tend to be very vocal about the conflict in Gaza. In higher education, especially at t14 institutions, this topic is extraordinarily toxic. Every day, I'm seeing a new headline about students being harshly reprimanded (or worse) by their institution for their involvement in protests regarding Palestine-- particularly at schools like NYU. Obviously, I would never comment on Israel/Palestine directly in my application, but I'm planning for the soft side of my application to be heavily centered around my leadership role within the student body. My YDSA activities sit at the heart of this leadership, and are very meaningful to me. I fear that mentioning my involvement with the organization, especially being at the helm, will carry a connotation or assumption that severely hurts my chances at admission. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice? Any way I should try to frame things or should I go as far as to consider omitting this role?
